LANSDALE CATHOLIC TO CONDUCT SURVEY ON NAME OF NEW FACILITY

LANSDALE - Lansdale Catholic High School is conducting a survey to obtain community input on the name for the new facility it plans to build in Hilltown Township.

Five names—St. Katharine Drexel High School, Holy Family High School, Lansdale Catholic Regional High School, Divine Mercy High School and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton High School—are under consideration.  The slate of potential names for the new school was compiled by the Lansdale Catholic Planning Phase Committee and approved by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Those interested may cast a vote for their preferred name between Tuesday, June 3, 2008 and Tuesday, June 24, 2008 by completing the naming survey that appears on the school website www.lansdalecatholic.com .

If anyone in the community has difficulty accessing the survey via the web, they can contact Mr. James Casey, LC Director of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs, at 215-362-1730 to request a hard copy of the survey.  Mailed-in surveys will also have a deadline of June 24.

It is the prerogative of Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia, to choose the name of all Archdiocesan high schools.  However, the Lansdale Catholic Planning Phase Committee will submit the top two name recommendations, based on the results of the survey, to the Cardinal for his consideration.  The Cardinal will then make the final decision on the new name for the school.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced in January that it plans to build a new, state-of-the-art Catholic high school on a 63-acre parcel at the intersection of Limekiln Pike and Rickert Road in Hilltown Township, Bucks County.    Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2010, with the school opening to students in September 2012.  Completion of the new facility will prompt the relocation of Lansdale Catholic High School to Hilltown.
