Northeast Catholic High School for Boys "Takesdown" Breast Cancer
Wrestling team launches unique fundraiser to support breast cancer research
WHAT: This wrestling season, the Northeast Catholic High School Falcons are on a mission - but not just one to win. Aside from aiming for their 14th Philadelphia Catholic League title in 18 years, the school's 34 wrestlers have a will to "takedown" breast cancer, and have launched the Wrestling Takedown-A-Thon to achieve their goals.
Through the innovative fundraising program, the Northeast Catholic High School for Boys community, including students, faculty and family members, has the option to sponsor either an individual wrestler or the entire Falcons wrestling team. Sponsors choose an amount of money to pledge for each takedown (also referred to as a pin) that the wrestler and/or team scores for the entire 2008-2009 season, which concludes in March 2009. At the end of the season, the total number of takedowns the Falcons land is multiplied by the total amount pledged. All proceeds are donated to breast cancer research.
Come see the Falcons take on the Conwell-Egan Eagles on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 as they continue to "takedown" breast cancer - one pin at a time.
